The works are composed of various nontraditional materials that juxtapose texture, pattern, line and shape to play with weight and light. Materials include remnant fabric, trim, craft elements and everyday materials hunted for (or found by chance) and stored in my treasured stockpiled stash, along with elements of knitting, crochet, sewing and pinning. Often colorful, ethereal and imbued with some sparkle, these tactile works are driven by gravity and the tension between contrasting elements: heavy vs light, and the flatness of two-dimensionality vs the space and volume of three-dimensionality. By contrasting structured grids with fluid forms and negative space with soft and hard elements, everyday materials are elevated into high art.
